This instrument is primarily designed to measure the whiteness of paper, paperboard, pulp, synthetic fiber pulp, cotton, synthetic fibers, textiles, plastics, ceramics, enamel, starch, salt, white cement, kaolin, talc, and various other materials. It is also capable of measuring the opacity and other optical properties of thin materials.

- Blue Light Diffuse Reflectance (R457): Measures the blue light diffuse reflectance factor, known as “Blue Light Whiteness” or “ISO Brightness (ISO Brightness).”
- Fluorescence Detection: Detects if the sample contains fluorescent whitening agents and measures fluorescence whiteness, determining the brightness due to fluorescence.


- Brightness (Y10 Stimulus Value): Measures the brightness stimulus value Y10, or green light diffuse reflectance factor (Ry).
- Additional Optical Properties: Measures opacity, transparency (%), light scattering coefficient, and light absorption coefficient.
Compliance with Standards: Follows GB3978-83 standards for standard illuminants and observation conditions, simulating D65 illuminant lighting. It utilizes d/o geometry with a diffuse sphere of 150 mm diameter and a 30 mm measurement port, with an absorber to eliminate the effect of specular reflection on samples.

- Peak Wavelength: The peak wavelength of the R457 whiteness optical system’s spectral power distribution is 457 nm, with a half-height width of 44 nm. The Y10 optical system complies with GB3979-83 for object color measurement.
- Optional RS232 Interface: Optionally equipped with an RS232 communication interface and a mini printer for printing results.
